TABtouch supports East Fremantle footy

Thursday, March 29, 2018 - 12:14 PM

TABtouch, the wagering arm of Racing and Wagering WA (RWWA) have partnered with East Fremantle FC in an exciting new initiative that will see our club directly benefit from the partnership.

As a part of the agreement TABtouch will give us a portion of every dollar bet when a new TABtouch account is opened and when any bet is placed at our games.

RWWA General Manager Wagering Michael Saunders said TABtouch is proudly Western Australian and a passionate supporter of local footy.

“Join TABtouch today through your local WAFL club and a portion of every bet you place will go directly back to your football club,” said Saunders.

“Whether you’re placing a bet on sports or on racing, at home or on the go, your club will see the reward.”

The new partnership is aimed at supporting the development and sustainability of football in WA through providing an additional revenue stream for the clubs that they can use for venue enhancements, entertainment and equipment.

The TAB has had a vested interest in supporting the sport and recreation industry in WA, and for many years through community partnerships, has given an estimated $150million back into the WA community each year.

Preseason Wrap Game 2

Monday, March 19, 2018 - 11:30 AM

The Sharks finished Saturday’s second round of scratch matches against West Perth with mixed results, while our 16’s squad registered their first win of their carnival.

It was a tough outing for the league side who struggled as the Falcons gained early ascendency, kicking 7 goals with the strong breeze, many of which came too easily. Kicking against the breeze, the Sharks managed to get a major on the board through Jack Perham, before the end of the first term.

A slow start meant the game was an uphill battle for East Fremantle, but they came out with a greater sense of urgency in the second. Perham added another goal, while George Hampson and Dion Anthony also hit the scoreboard. To their credit, our defence conceded just a point for the quarter. However the boys couldn’t cash in on advantage of the breeze, kicking just the three goals and leaving a deficit of 22 points heading in to the second half.

After the main break the Falcons dominated the contest, leaving the Sharks unable to gain any momentum.  Hampson did nail a fantastic goal on the run from the pocket and Perham finished with three majors for the day.  Despite only playing the first half, Jonathon Griffin worked his way in to the game and showed how important he will be for East Fremantle. James Bristow came in for the second and was also promising, taking some strong overhead marks. The likely inclusion of Griffin and Bristow next week as well as Nick Kommer and Blaine Boekhorst will undoubtedly impact the Sharks performance.

In positive signs for the depth of club at senior level, our Development League were outstanding, finishing 60 points in front.  East Fremantle were dominant from the first bounce, with serval boys making a case for league selection.  McKenzie Bristow was a strong presence up forward, finishing with 2 goals; as did Zac McCarrey, Jye Clements, Dywane Nevill, Russell Wynne and Stuart Egan.  Fraser Perry, Leon Pearton, Corey Holmes, Ambrose Ryan, Tim Bockman and Jayden Quill kicked 1 apiece.

Despite a five-goal third quarter comeback, after trailing by 21 points at the main break, our Colts fell just one point short of West Perth, almost right on the final siren.

Bailey Tucek and Jordan Randall kicked 2 goals, Joshua Ritchie, Joshua Harris-Walker, Jackson Bennett and Benjamin Wardle added 1 each to the board.

The Sharks take on Subiaco this week in a split round, game times below:
